Detailed A/V submission guidelines
Each submission must be submitted in the Electronic Editorial System and contain the following components:
1. Link to the A/V work
For the review, A/V works can be uploaded to any platform the authors choose, and the link should be included in the submission.
The uploaded A/V work should always be password-protected, and the password should be included in the submission.
Anonymous: Neither the submitted A/V work nor any textual elements on the platform where the A/V work has been uploaded should include the authors’ names, to facilitate peer review.
Length: A/V work should have a duration between 5 and 30 minutes. Exceptions should be motivated.
Language: A/V work can use any language, but when languages other than English are used, the work should be made understandable to English speakers by using subtitles for video works and dubbing or the use of different language versions for audio/sound works.
Captions / Subtitles:
- For videos, captions are welcomed, and subtitles are necessary when the video work uses a language other than English. For the submission, subtitles and captions should be embedded.
- For audio/sound work, if non-English is used, the audio work should be understandable for English speakers (e.g., through dubbing, or the use of different language versions).
File formats: A/V work should be submitted in one of the following file formats:
- For video: .mpeg; .mts; .mkv; .3gp; .wmv; .vob; .mov; .m4v; .mpg; .flv; .webm; .mxf; .ogg; .avi; .mp4.
- For audio: .mp3; .wav; .aac.
2. Contextualising Statement
The contextualising statement is a written academic text that discusses the research questions/objectives, theoretical framework, and methodology. It includes bibliographic and filmographic references.
Anonymous: The submitted contextualising statement should be anonymous, without any references to the author(s) or their affiliations.
The contextualising statement includes the title of the work, an abstract, keywords, and the main text (with references). For the submission, also the link to the A/V work, and the password to access it should be included.
Length: The abstract is between 100 and 200 words; between 4 and 6 keywords need to be included, and the main text has a preferred length of 2000 words (with a margin of 10%). References are not included in the word count.
Both bibliographic and filmographic references must follow APA (7th edition) guidelines.
File format: The contextualising statement file should be submitted in one of the following formats: .doc; .docx; .pdf.
Submission
The submission must be done through the journal’s Electronic Editorial System at https://ms.vedeckecasopisy.cz/.
AI use and copyright
Authors who use AI tools in the creation of their A/V work or contextualising statement should add an AI usage statement, in which they:
- Confirm that the (human) authors are the sole authors of the text, and that AI was only used in a supportive role;
- Confirm that only single elements of the A/V work have been generated by AI (if any), and that all meaningful entities (sentences, shots, sounds, …) and their articulations were human-created;
- Explain how AI was used in its supportive role.
