Abstract: This study examines the evolution of podcasting research over the past two decades (2004 – January 2024) based on data retrieved from the Web of Science database. Through a mapping review, it documents how academic interest in podcasts has grown from a niche topic into a significant area of media and communication studies. The study identifies thematic shifts, influential publications, and methodological approaches that have shaped this field. It also highlights the interdisciplinary expansion of podcast research into areas such as education, health communication, and cultural production. The outcomes of this analysis both provide a foundation for future studies and open discussion on the role of podcasts in contemporary media and academic discourse.
